About Woodland

The Woodland community is the county seat of Yolo County as well as the industrial and commercial center. The town traces its roots back to a history of agriculture and architecture with rich farmlands and stately Victorian homes. The Woodland Opera House, built in the late 1800s, serves as center for visual and performing arts with activities and performances year round. With a population of more than 50,000 people, Woodland's community is very supportive and involved in its schools.

Woodland is situated twenty miles from downtown Sacramento and eighty-five miles from San Francisco. Universities, shopping malls, an international airport, and entertainment attractions are only a short drive away. Lake Tahoe and the Sierras as well as the Pacific Ocean are only two hours away where camping, hiking, and other recreational opportunities can be found.

Woodland hosts several community events: The Scottish Games, the Yolo County Fair, the Stroll through History, and the Chamber’s Chili Cook Off and Christmas Parade. The Heidrick Ag History Center and Hayes Truck Museum are outstanding entertainment and educational opportunities in our community.

Along with all of these benefits are enriching schools, plentiful shopping, dining, and professional services. Woodland has the atmosphere of a small town with a friendly, peaceful, unhurried pace of life. It's a great place to live.
